Alritey, lovelies! Yoga all done - lots of cleansing sweat and negative emotions released! Ahhhh!
This am I did Deni Preston's Basic Flow episode number 123. It is one of my favs. Big Toe Pose, Hand under Foot pose, Triangle, all forms of Warrior almost, all that good stuff. Of courase I could do without the Wag The Tail pose - Ugh. And I am convincing myself that I LOVE Standing Splits and all other groin openers. They say runners are naturally tight in the groin... well, I intend to remedy this situation in my groin (doesn't that sounds almost lude? ha ha). I WILL be a runner with flexible groin muscles!!
I've read a few running books (understatement), and most if not all state that yoga practicioners do not make the best runners, because they are too loose. They say that tight muscles, or semi-tight muscles are an element of good running. Sounds darn uncomfy to me, so I'll be a little less goos at running with my loose and flexile muscles and joints. They also say that when you have loose muscles and flexinble joints, while you may run a little slower, you avoid more injuries simply by being flexible. So I'm going for flexible more than for speed.
I also happen to know that at almost 62 inches tall, and short legs, I'm not going for speed records at this point in my running career. I want to gradually improve speed, but not sacrifice my flexibility (which isn't stellar to begin with). Let's just say I want it all. I want to do splits AND I want to run as fast as I can for EVER!
So I dislike Wag the Tail, and that pliet standing pose which makes one feel like a tall frog... it opens the groin muscles... so I LOVE IT, right? Yup - I LOVE IT!!! It's hard! I LOVE It.... yeah this make take some convincing. My body is not cooperating with this particular idea.
Gotta run shower and get dressed - but the plan is to post a little more about what's going on - first I need to cover the recoop my body was/is doing before major running takes place, which means fasting of various kinds and cleasnes. Then I'll let you all in on the Training Program, that may kill me. *smile* it's a BEAUtiful day!!
